A very rare copper box from John Pearson with a beautifully executed enamel on copper panel of a Peacock….The box itself made specifically to hold a panel and a form of box I have never seen before from JP….Made in his typical style with large hinge with hand hammered rivets and folded metal over a bar….The body decorated with rivets as decoration….The wooden insides made as an integral part of the box….The aperture holding the enamel have four worked copper clips riveted to hold the plaque in place…….The enamel plaque worked with great skill and showing wonderful lustred highlights creating a wonderful affect….Attributed to the Guild of Handicraft with the thought that this piece was made before he left the guild….Or just after and the box was made specifically for this enamelled plaque maybe as a commission or gift….The whole in excellent condition with no issues bar it being over 100 years old….As good a piece of JP as you will likely find anywhere…..C1890 ish….
